Preliminary stuff

[edit]

I am getting the format cleaned up before uploading the rest of the document, which I have in digital form. I've decided to put footnotes on the same page as in the original document, which is presenting some challenges, since the footnotes need to retain their original numbers. I may end up creating a new template for footnotes of this type. For now, I'm using {{ref||num}} and {{note||num}}, where num is the number. I may also create a template for the page breaks, which need to be included because they are significant to us lawyers. Michael D. Sullivan 06:16, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

See {{Page break}}, which is used for Micro Star v. FormGen Inc., or {{endofpage}} which appears on Golan v. Gonzales. If these don't suit your needs, create another one. John Vandenberg (chat) 06:32, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I’ve taken to using {{page label}}, which has the advantage of allowing pinpoint hyperlinks directly to the cited page of a lengthy text. For example, this link takes you directly to page 430 of the majority opinion in the Sony Betamax case. Tarmstro99 13:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
The {{page break}} is pretty close to what I want. I'm not ok on {{endofpage}}. And {{page label}} doesn't do what I want. It would be nice if the {{page break}} template could be used within a numbered list without resetting the numbering, which I am currently doing with my <div>....</div> procedure. Michael D. I came up with a template for the page breaks that does what I want. Currently it's in my sandbox. I'm going to propose on the community discussion board to move it to the template library. Michael D. Sullivan 20:04, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Any ideas as to the footnotes? Michael D. Sullivan 07:27, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think you are doing the right thing for footnotes, as the inbuilt mechanism provides automatic numbering. There have been discussions about this on the community discussion board - I suggest that you raise your questions there, and leave a note at User talk:Sanbeg, as he is the chap who has been improving the footnotes capability in the software. I came up with a template for the footnotes and references after much experimentation, and will ask Sanbeg to take a look, as well as proposing on the community discussion board to move the templates from my sandbox to the template library. Michael D. Sullivan 20:04, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Full text is now up and partially formatted

[edit]

The full text of the Final Decision is now up, split into an initial article and ten subpages. I'm going to turn to formatting next. Michael D. Sullivan 20:04, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
