note- when Paine writes "America did not, nor does not want force, but she wanted a proper application of that force." want=LACK!!

in the information page of this, whoever wrote it has it completely wrong. I got that translation from a history text that discusses it. =) unsigned comment by 4.224.213.123 (talk) 16 September 2007.

Hi, I have checked the sentence in a few online sources and "want" is used in a number of them. See [1] and [2].

Dec 19 or Dec 23?[edit]

The date is listed December 23, 1776 in the article at the top and bottom; however it is listed as December 19 in The American Crisis/Editor's Preface: The first Crisis was printed in the Pennsylvania Journal, December 19, 1776, ....
