EPUB Download[edit]

When I download this book as EPUB, it only shows me the table of contents, and not the stories. Why is that and what should I do to fix this, so I can download the volume with the stories included? Genoskill (talk) 12:03, 29 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Genoskill: I don't know, but due to the structure of this book it will probably not work very well as a download. For instance, The_Book_of_the_Thousand_Nights_and_One_Night/The_Merchant_and_the_Genie would show without the 4 stories it contains, and then the 4 stories would appear separately. Of course, as long as you are able to follow link in the EPUB, that is not a big deal. I'm working on a full EPUB version, but it may take some time. Jellby (talk) 21:13, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Jellby: That's great. Does it mean that you plan on making modifications to the tables of contents, to the places where links are placed, and things like that? -- Genesis Bustamante (talk) 22:24, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Genoskill: What I meant is that I'm doing a hand-coded EPUB version with all the volumes (and possibly the Tales from the Arabic and Alaeddin and the Enchanted Lamp; Zein ul Asnam and the King of the Jinn). When I'm done, it will be published in https://www.mobileread.com/forums (an old preview can be found here. As for WS, the problem is that by default the EPUB exporter recognizes only subpages of the current page, and the different stories are subpages of the main book, not of the "Volume X" pages. By adding some simple code, I could make it work, I think, try again now. The caveat is that when there is a story within a story, while there is a link that will take you to the "inner" story, at the end of it, the link that is supposed to take you back to the right place in the "outer" story, in the EPUB version it takes you to the beginning of the outer story instead. @Jellby: It works! Except for Chapter 4. I don't know how you did it, but it works and the 'night' links also work. -- Genesis Bustamante (talk) 01:29, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Genoskill: What do you mean with Chapter 4? Volume 4 or The Three Apples? Both work for me. All I did was adding a <div class="ws-summary"> wrapper. Jellby (talk) 07:53, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Jellby: I meant Volume 4, my apologies. To be clear, I'm using the "Download as EPUB" from this page. I can access the contents of all Volumes except the 4th. That volume shows me the 'contents' page, with the list of stories and nights. But those links point to files that do not exist, so then it tries to open those links in a web browser. -- Genesis Bustamante (talk) 12:48, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Genoskill: Strange, I would say exporting from the main page was not supposed to work for any volume... maybe the stories in Vol. 4 are not included because they are too many. I think it will work if you try from Volume 4 or from the Full contents. Jellby (talk) 15:17, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
