Table of contents[edit]

@Akme: Is the table of contents that you created, the standard method (policy / style guide) of creating it in cases where it doesn’t exist in the text? If not, I think the TOC that we have on the Index page should be better suited for the purpose. The one currently in mainspace is rather jarring. What do you think? I'm no expert; this is the method I've most often seen used. But please do use the Index page method if you can translate it to the mainspace (In fact, if you read my comments with the change, you'll see that I was thinking of it as a placeholder —AFAIK a ToC is needed there—till you've replaced it with something better.) My knowledge of CSS is too little to do a good job of it. Thanks (for bothering to ask) —Akme 05:44, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
@Akme: I’m new to this particular bit myself and your method is the one I’d always seen around the place. I’ve always wondered why it was used coz we have some rather good TOC templates for the purpose that could be used instead. I've put in the TOC from the Index now. (P.S. I did see your change comments which is why I asked.) - Ciridae (talk) 07:51, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
My understanding is that if we add anything which isn't included in the scan, we should make the fact clear. So, perhaps you can add a "(not individually listed)" which the template does. But I really don't know for sure :) —Akme 08:06, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
