Usage[edit]

This template is currently experimental. Make sure you know what you're doing before using it anywhere!

This template is for placing on a user page, user sandbox, or userspace draft that needs to be blanked for some reason, but does not require actual deletion (i.e. the old revisions of the page do not contain a copyright violation, illegal material, harassment, or any other "hard" delete reason). To use it replace the entire contents of the problematic page with {{blanked userspace page}}.

The main intended use is for a page in userspace that shows up in a category, maintenance backlog, or other such place where it gets in the way when the relevant user is no longer active and it is therefore unlikely that whatever the problem is will ever be fixed. It should only be used for pages that actually cause a problem and never preemptively.

For such content in the userspace of a currently or recently active user (remember to also check their activity on other WMF projects) the better approach is to contact the user on their talk page to get the problem resolved, possibly by having them blank the page themselves or at least indicating that it is ok by them that you blank the page.

Because any edit in another user's userspace is inherently potentially controversial, and this template has not been tested and gained widespread consensus yet, it should generally only be placed by admins for now (and even they should exercise caution). If the community finds this a better approach than processing such user pages through proposed deletions it is the intent that this template can be placed by any experienced user while blanking a page.
