This template defines the two unique styles of quotes used in File:History of the University of Pennsylvania - Montgomery (1900).djvu. There are standard block quotes (the default setting for the template) which have left and right margins equal to zero, 92% font size, and a line height of 1.2em.

The reason for this template is so that Wikisource places paragraph tags in the correct place. Block quotes get their own paragraph tags and inline quotes do not.

Usage

• Start: {{QuoteHUP/s}}
• End: {{QuoteHUP/e}}

The default is a block quote. The optional first parameter, when set to q, changes the block quote to an inline quote (the q tag in HTML). However, this book has long inline quotes on new lines, but within the same paragraph so this template does exactly that. The second optional parameter, s, for the first template is for when the first parameter is set to q, allowing the inline quote to start a new paragraph, rather than be embedded in the middle of it. There is a second optional parameter for the closing template that, when set to c, will let the paragraph continue after a line break. This is for the paragraphs that have long quote inside of them.

Note regarding block quotes

Such as with references, any paragraph after the first in a block quote must have the

<p>

and

</p>

(paragraph tags) before and after the paragraph, respectively. This is a requirement in the HTML specification.
