Template:ShakespeareSonnetVersions/doc

There are 154 individual sonnets in Shakespeare's Sonnets. Each of those sonnets has its own Versions pages. Instead of managing each Versions page individually, this template allows all 154 pages to be edited at once.

Usage

The only required parameter is the sonnet's number. For example, for Sonnet 1, the syntax is {{ShakespeareSonnetVersions|1}}.

Other parameters available are:

• similar: If a sonnet has been published under a title other than "Sonnet" (or "Sonnet #"), and a disambiguation page exists for that alternate title, use this parameter to link to the disambiguation page. (Currently only supports one value.)
• notes: The template generates text for the header template's "notes" field. Use this parameter to add more text to the header notes after the generated text.
• additional: If a version of the sonnet is hosted on Wikisource, but not as part of one of the editions of Shakespeare's Sonnets, use this parameter to add these editions to the list. (This will create two sections: a list of editions in the Sonnets, and a list of other editions.)
• categories: Use this parameter to add categories to the Versions page.

Modifying this template

If you want to add content to a Versions page for one of the sonnets, please consider modifying this template instead. This can be done in two ways:

• Add content to this template that will appear on all 154 Versions pages
• Add a parameter to this template, and use the parameter to display the text on the appropriate Versions pages.

Editions should be added using {{authority/link}}, if possible; or at least, formatted in a consistent manner.
