RandomCanadian, this could also be generalized to be really useful for other hymnals, too. For instance, it could be used for some German hymnals, like wikipedia:Evangelisches Kirchengesangbuch and the wikipedia:Gotteslob. I'm not sure how those two specifically could be put on Wikisource; the songs contained in them are PD, but not the collections. But I think there are a lot of older, presumably PD German hymnals with similar structures and hymn-numbering. Actually, a lot of composers withi standard numberings for their works (like Mozart's Köchel numbers) might benefit, too. HLHJ (talk) 00:23, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@HLHJ: If those exist on de.Wikisource or elsewhere, you're free to re-use this and adapt it as needed. The only mildly complex bit is the one handling the tempo marking, but that can be copied if needed as is, or stripped out if you don't need it. Thanks! I am not very likely to get to this, but I'll ping Rabanus Flavus, who is interested in German hymns, and may well know others who might take an interest. HLHJ (talk) 23:53, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the honour, but I'm not familiar with the technical aspects discussed here. Maybe FordPrefect42 can be helpful. --Rabanus Flavus (talk) 06:57, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
