Shemini Atzeret & Simchat Torah[edit]

Hi Nahum!

I couple of things I've been thinking about, and it seems you've thought about them too:

  • Do Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah need two different pages? After all they are the same holiday, even in Chu"l. We've seen there's no great need for two separate pages for the two days of RH - they naturally go together, and someone looking for them expects to find them together. So my thought is here too they should be a single page.
  • My initial expectation is that even a long chag like Pesach should be on one page. Here, of course, the issue is that SA & ST are in many ways a separate chag from Sukkot, including in their keriot. But they are also connected. My suggestion: to do as in Hebrew - Simchat Torah in parenthesis underneath Sukkot in the same box.
  • Listing one or both of them separately does some aesthetic damage to the chart, which this would also correct.Dovi 11:09, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

Hi again, Nahum.

Regarding spelling, there is no perfect solution. We should look for something fairly easy to read and to recognize. To be consistent overall is a good idea, but user-friendliness is more important the applying any rules exactly. Let's talk about what would be reasonable and more or less accurate.

A technical question: Do you really see "h" with a dot underneath as a square ? It may have to do with your OS or your browser. Try Firefox, and make sure you are viewing Unicode.Dovi 11:13, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
