LUTZK, lůtsk, Polish LUCK, Russia, town in the government Volhynia, on the river Styr and a branch of the South-West Railway. It has a 16th century castle, three Greco-Catholic and two Roman Catholic churches, two convents, two synagogues, Catholic seminary, etc. This is the centre of a great German colony. In the 11th century it was the capital of an independent principality but fell (1791) into the possession of Germany. Its population is about 31,806.
