The complete collection comprises 100 volumes, more than 50,000 pages of text. Numbers 91–97 were published as Supplementary Volumes while Volumes 98–100 were indexes. A first edition was published between in 1958 and 1994 by Publications Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. A second edition was published from 1998. This second edition sparked a deep controversy, and was withdrawn by the government.
