AARESTRUP, Emil, â′rê-stroop, Danish poet (1800–56). He was born in Copenhagen. He was not duly appreciated until after his death, but is now acknowledged one of the foremost lyric poets of Denmark, ranking next to Christian Winther. His ‘Collected Poems,’ with critical sketch by G. Brandes, was published at Copenhagen in 1877.
