BAPTIST YOUNG PEOPLE'S UNION OF AMERICA, an association representing many young people's societies connected with the Baptist churches in the United States and Canada, organized June 1891 in Chicago, which place has since been its headquarters. Upon the formation of the Union, as the withdrawal of the Baptist societies was feared by the Christian Endeavor societies, a plan of federation was adopted for the establishment of young people's societies over which no constitution should be required. Conventions are held yearly. Consult Bacon and Northrop, ‘Young People's Societies’ (New York 1900).
