KIRCHBACH, kĭrh'bäH, Wolfgang, German critic and poet: b. London, England, 18 Sept. 1857; d. 1906. He was the son of a German artist and studied in Dresden and Leipzig. Settling in the former city in 1888 he was editor of the Magazin für Litteratur des In- und Auslandes; but from 1896 lived in Berlin. Among his works may be cited ‘Märchen’ (1879); ‘Salvator Rosa,’ a romance (1880); ‘Gedichte’ (1883); ‘Das Leben auf der Walze’ (1892); ‘Die letzten Menschen,’ a drama (1892); ‘Miniaturen’ (Stuttgart 1892); ‘Des Sonnenreichs Untergang’ (Dresden 1895); ‘Gordon Pascha’ (ib. 1895); ‘Eginhardt und Emma’ (ib. 1896); ‘Der Lieder vom Zweirad’ (1900).
