Andrew, Rev. Adam, United Church of Scotland, Chingleput; s. of Adam Andrew; b. Dailly, Ayrshire, Scotland, 1851; educ: Alton, Galston Paisely Commercial Academy, Glasgow; U.F. Church Theological College, Glasgow; came out to India as Missionary attached to the Free Church of Scotland; posted to Chingleput, 1879; acted in Madras for 11 months in addition to his work in Chingleput; received the K.I.H. medal, 1903; received a Bar to it, 1915; m. Elizabeth Macfarlane, d. of Mr. Alexander Macfarlane. Publications: “Indian Problems”, the “New Movements in India”, “Prices of Food Grains and Wages in India”. “Elementary Education”, “Uneducated Children of the Presidency”, “The Depressed classes of the Presidency”.
