Badan Singh, C.S.J. (1903), Sardar; born, 1840; fifth in descent from the celebrated Phub, the Common ancestor of the present rulers of Patiala, Jhind and Nabha. This family served the British Government faithfully both in the Gurkha War of 1815 and in the Mutiny, 1857. The present Sardar has made liberal contributions to works of public utility and amongst his many acts of generosity may be mentioned his erection and endowment of a dispensary at Malandh, and his contribution to the Amritsar Khalsa College, etc. Title of Sardhar, hereditary.
