Syed Muhammud Sahib Bahadur, Hon’ble Nawab; elected Member, Imperial Legislative Council, since 1913; y.s. of late Shahzadi Shahrukh Begum, d. of Sultan Yasin, 4th s. of Tippu Sultan of Mysore; Sheriff of Madras, 1896, being the 1st Mahomedan gentleman to be appointed to that position; Member, Madras Legislative Council, 1900; re-appointed, 190i; invited to Delhi Durbar, 1903; elected to the Imperial Legislative Council, 1903; took a leading part in the debates on the Universities, the Co-operative Credit Societies, the Official Secrets and other important bills; has ever been active in promoting better feelings between his co-religionists and other communities; Chairman, Congress Reception Committee, 1903; President, Indian National Congress, 1913.
