Walker, Sir James Lewis, Kt. (1903), C.I.E. (1888); V.D. (1911), s. of late John Walker of the Punjab Police; b. 1845; Assistant Secretary, Simla Bank Corporation, 1868-73; established the Alliance Bank, Simla, of which he has been General Manager and a Director, since 1874; President, Simla Municipality, 1884-87; commanded 2nd Punjab Volunteers, 1884-91; one of the proprietors of the “Pioneer” and the “Civil and Military Gazette”; partner in two brewery firms; married twice.
