Clarks′ville, Tenn., a city and county-seat of Montgomery County, located on the Cumberland River, about 40 miles from Nashville. The surrounding country is a tobacco-growing region, and the city has tobacco and snuff-factories and lumber and flour-mills. A Methodist school for girls and the Southwestern Presbyterian University are located here, and the city is served by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Population, 8,548.
