Detaille, Jean Baptiste Edouard (zhŏṅ bäp-tēst ĕd-oo-ärd, dḗ-tä′y′), a French painter, was born in 1848, and is distinguished for his treatment of military subjects. The Passing Regiment is one of his best pictures. It is in Corcoran Gallery, Washington, D. C.
