Voorhees (vōr'ēz), Daniel W., an American politician, was born in Ohio Sept. 26, 1827. He studied at Asbury University in Indiana, and began his law practice in that state, where he was appointed district attorney. He was a representative from Indiana for four terms of Congress, became United States senator in 1877, and was re-elected in 1885 and 1891. He died on April 10, 1897.
