Mother

How dark the morn,
  Without thy light!
How sad the day
  Thy soul took flight!

We cannot feel
  Thee far away;
Where thou dost rest,
  Our flowers we lay.

Yes, flowers of love,
  The first of spring.
O couldst thou know
  The love we bring!
