Harpers printed a great many sheets, then bound them in small batches over a period of years, resulting in many binding states. This is the first American book edition of all three stories, though all had previously been published in magazines, and had appeared in the English market book The Private Life, The Wheel of Time, Lord Beaupré, The Visits, Collaboration, Owen Wingrave.
