XCVII. Nathaniel Gorham to Caleb Strong.[1]

I recd your favour from N York and was pleased to find that you had got on so well. … We have now under consideration the 18th Article which is that the United States shall guarantee, &c. &c.[2]

I am in hopes we shall be done in about 20 days. There are several things referred which will take some time.

  2. Taken up and passed on August 30. On August 29, Article XVII was under consideration and was continued on August 30.
