Practising Doctor; promoter of The All-Red or All-British Route from London to Australia via British territory and on British Ships; member of a deputation to Sir Wilfrid Laurier in Canada on All-Red Route, 1907; organiser of a deputation to Mr Churchill,. M.P., President of Board of Trade, in 1908, on same subject; originator of the idea, author and introducer of first bill for compulsory land purchase in Ireland, 1897; M.P. for West Mayo, 1893-1910.
