Entered Royal Dublin Fusiliers, 1884; became Capt., 1892; Major, 1901: Brevet Lieut.-Col.. 1901; Lieut.-Col., 1906: Brevet Col. 1907; Col., 1910; and Hon. Brig.-Gen. (retired), 1919; served in S. Africa, 1898-1902; European War, 1914-18, as Brig.-Com; commanded Staffordshire Infantry Brigade, 1911-12; was Gen. Staff Officer, N. Command, 1912-14. and Inspector of Infantry, 1915-19; eldest son of late John E. Chapman, of Monkstown, Co Dublin; b. 1862; m. 1895, Annie Evelyn, second dau. of George Orr Wilson, formerly of Dunardagh, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.
