COOTE, William (M.P., South Tyrone since 1916); M.P., for Fermanagh and Tyrone, Northern Parliament, Ireland, 1921); Apprenticed to the provision trade; at twenty years started and successfully carried on a business in his native district; removed to Newry, Co. Down, 1891, and from thence to Clogher, Co. Tyrone, 1893, where he built up a business as' auctioneer and stock-owner; rented a large mill premises at Ballygawley idle for 35 years, where he started and developed the manufacture of woollen yarns, 1900, subsequently forming this into a private limited Co., of which he is the Managing Director; since the War he has developed a Hosiery Factory in Aughnacloy; Managing Director of John K. Wilson & Co., Wholesale Woollen Merchants, Belfast; J.P., Co. Tyrone, 1901; a County Councillor, Co. Tyrone, 1903. Recn.: gardening; son of William Coote, of Killevalley, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan; b. 1863; m. 1889, Letitia Allen, of Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, and has issue four sons, one dau. Res.: Aberfayle, Maryville Park, Balmoral, Belfast. Club: Constitutional, London.
