Africa, 1899; served Fra-Fra Expeditions, 1899 and 1900; (despatches Neutral Zone Expedition 1900 (despatches Ashanti rebellion (despatches, medal and clasp); District Commissioner Axim, 1901-04: Deputy Principal Medical Officer, Accra, Gold Coast; received thanks of Secretary of State for services during plague at Accra, 1908; awarded Arnott Memorial Medal, 1913; Medical Officer Dunganstown Dispensary, Co. Wicklow: son of Edward Garland, of Dublin; b. 1867; m. Irene Winefrid Figg. Res.: Barndarrig, Co, Wicklow.
