McMAHON, James, Sc.D., University of Dublin; Educ.: Dundalk, Santry, Trin. Coll., Dub. (two gold medals with degree, 1881.) At Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., as instructor, assistant professor, and professor of mathematics, 1883-1921; retired on pension at age 65. Member, London Math. Soc, American Math. Soc, Palermo Math. Soc, Fellow Amer. Assoc for Adv. of Science (Vice-Pres., 1901); b. near Richill, Co. Armagh, April 22nd, 1856; son of Robert and Mary (Hewitt) McM. Pubns.: Hyperbolic Functions with applications (1896); Joint author of Modern Mathematical Series, published by American Book Company, 1898-1904; associate editor of Annals of Mathematics, 1891-98 (published by University of Virginia); contributor of various articles on pure and applied mathematics.
