WHELAN, Leo, A.R.H.A., 1920; Painter of portraits and general subjects; b. Dublin, 1892, of Irish parents from the Co. Kerry. Educ.: Belvedere College. Dublin; studied Art under Sir William Orpen, R.A., at the Metropolitan School of Art, Dublin; awarded prizes at Taylor Bequest; won the Taylor Art Scholarship, Royal Dublin Society, 1916; exhibiting at the Royal Hibernian Academy of Art about ten years. Studio: 61 Dawson Street, Dublin. Res.: 65 Eccles Street, Dublin.
