the House of Representatives dated 4 August 2480 Buddhist Era)

Enacted on the 3rd day of October 2482 Buddhist Era
Being the 8th year of the present reign

Whereas the House of Representatives has resolved that it is appropriate to amend certain sections of the Penal Code;

Therefore, by and with the advice and consent of the House of Representatives, a great royal command is given that the following Act be enacted:

Section1.This Act shall be called the "Act Amending the Penal Code (No. 8), 2482 Buddhist Era".

Section2.This Act shall come into force from the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section3.The provisions on offences of violence against the Prime Minister shall be inserted in Part 1 of Division 2 of the Penal Code as Chapter 1bis, containing the following sections:

"Chapter 1bis
Offences of violence against the Prime Minister


Section98bis.Whoever intentionally causes or attempts to cause death to the Prime Minister shall be held guilty and be punished with death.

Section98ter.Whoever inflicts or attempts to inflict violence upon the life, person, or liberty of the Prime Minister shall be held guilty and be punished with either of the following: one is life imprisonment, the other is death.

If the violence bears no characteristic which can be harmful to the life, the offender shall be punished with either of the following: one is imprisonment from sixteen years to twenty years, the other is life imprisonment.

Section98quater.Whoever prepares to commit the offence as said in section 98bis or section 68ter, aids in the commission of such offence, or, knowing that anyone is to commit it, helps conceal it, shall be held guilty and be punished with either of the following: one is imprisonment from twelve years to twenty years, the other is life imprisonment."
