Regard the Application of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand

Given on the 18th day of September 2500 BE
Being the 12th year of the present reign

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej gives a great royal command by which He orders with His pleasure that it be announced as follows:

Whereas the Military Defender of the Realm has made a submission to Him that the application of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand should be in line with the suitability of the situation, and He entertains an opinion in agreement therewith; therefore, in order to accomplish that which has been submitted to Him by the Military Defender of the Realm, He gives a great royal command by which He orders with His pleasure the following:

Article1.The Amendment to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, 2475 Buddhist Era, 2495 Buddhist Era, shall remain in force, subject to the following conditions:

(a)the memberships in the House of Representatives of the 1st and 2nd Type Members shall come to an end on the day of announcement of this royal command;

(b)an election of the 1st Type Members shall be carried out within ninety days counted from the day of announcement of this royal command;

(c)on and after the day of announcement of this royal command, [the Monarch] will appoint with His gracious pleasure the 2nd Type Members[1] numbering not more than one hundred and twenty-three from amongst the persons He finds appropriate;

whilst the 1st Type Members have not yet assumed their duties, the House of Representatives shall be composed of the 2nd Type Members for the time being;

(d)before establishment of a Council of Ministers to handle the public services of the State, it shall be the duty of the Military Defender of the Realm to countersign royal commands.

Article2.This royal command does not affect the calculation of the periods of time which have already run in accordance with section 115 and section 116.
