   A dull and cold winter
day. The schoolchildren
are studying. The monotonous
rain behind the windows.
   Classtime. A poster
depicts a fleeing
Cain, and the dead Abel
beside a carmine spot.
   With a deep resounding timbre
the teacher thunders on, this old
poorly dressed man, bony and withered,
a book in his hand.
And the whole chorus of children
goes on singing the lesson:
“a thousand times a hundred, a hundred thousand,
a thousand times a thousand, a million”.
   A dull and cold winter
day. The schoolchildren
are studying. The monotonous
rain behind the windows.
