To Terentia at Rome

[edit]

Brundisium, 4 November 48 BC

[edit]

Tullius says hello to his Terentia

That you are glad I have arrived safe in Italy, I'd like you to be glad forever. But disturbed by a pain in my mind and by the great injuries done by my family, I fear that I will take up a plan which I cannot easily arrange. Therefore, help as much as you can; what you can do, however, is not coming into my mind. There's no reason for you to take to the road right now. It's a long journey, and not safe; and I don't see what good you can do if you come.

Goodbye.
