Shulchan Aruch:

זמן תפלת השחר מצוותה שיתחיל עם הנץ החמה כדכתיב ייראוך עם שמש ואם התפלל משעלה עמוד השחר והאיר פני המזרח יצא ונמשך זמנה עד סוף ד' שעות .שהוא שליש היום ואם טעה או עבר והתפלל אחר ד' שעות עד חצות אף על פי שאין לו שכר כתפלה בזמנה שכר תפלה מיהא איכא הגה: ואחר חצות אסור להתפלל תפלת שחרית (בית יוסף בשם הרשב"א פרק תפלת השחר). ועיין לקמן ריש סימן ק"ח

One may pray the morning morning prayers at sunrise, as it says "You will fear him with the sun" (Tehillim). If however, one prayed at the crack of dawn when the eastern horizon was visible, they fulfilled their obligation. One may say the morning prayer until the fourth hour into the day, which is a third of the day.Ramah: and after midday, it is forbidden to pray morning prayers.
