- מעשה שעברו יתר מארבעים זוג,
- ועיכבם רבי עקיבה בלוד;
- שלח לו רבן גמליאל,
- אם מעכב אתה את הרבים, נמצאת מכשילם לעתיד לבוא.
English Translation[edit]
It happened that more than 40 pairs passed, and Rabbi Akiva detained them in Lod. Rabban Gamliel sent to him: If you stop the masses, it will turn out that you will cause them to stumble in the future.
