Appointment of Head of National Council for Peace and Order

Whereas General Prayut Chan-o-cha has notified His Majesty of the following: The violent situations in the Bangkok Metropolitan Area and other areas, which have continuously taken place and tend to expand to the extent likely to bring about severity or riots, have affected the security of the Country and the safety of the lives and property of the people as a whole. In order to bring the described situations back to normalcy expeditiously, restore love and unity amongst the people in the Nation, and reform the political and other structures with a view to bringing about fairness to every group and every side, a party of military and police officers headed by General Prayut Chan-o-cha has taken control of the power to administer the Country from the 22nd day of May 2557 Buddhist Era, the time of 16:30 hours, onwards.
Therefore, for the purpose of bringing about peace to the Nation and harmony to the people, His Majesty is pleased to give a Great Royal Command appointing General Prayut Chan-o-cha as Head of the National Council for Peace and Order in charge of the public administration from now on.
Announced on the 24th day of May 2557 Buddhist Era, being the 69th year of the present reign.
