Proclamation
on Appointment of Leader of the National Council for Peace and Order[1]
Bhumibol Adulyadej, R.
Whereas General Prayuth Chan-ocha informed Us that due to the violent situations which have continuously occurred in Bangkok and other areas and are likely to be worsened to such an extent that unrest or riots would ensue, consequentially affecting national security as well as the safety of lives and property of the people as a whole, a group of military and police officers led by General Prayuth Chan-ocha has successfully taken control of the national government power as from 16:30 hours of 22 May 2014, with a view to promptly bringing the described situations to normalcy, to restoring love and harmony amongst the national people, as well as to reforming the structures of politics and others, which would legitimise every side and every group;
Now Know You that We, in the interest of public order and harmony, hereby appoint General Prayuth Chan-ocha as the Leader of the National Council for Peace and Order to take charge of public administration henceforth.
Issued this 24th Day of May, Buddhist Era 2557 (2014), being the 69th Year of Our Reign.
- Countersigned.
- General Prayuth Chan-ocha,
- Royal Thai Army Commander.
