Proclamation

on Appointment of Prime Minister[1]




Bhumibol Adulyadej, R.



Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paraminthra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej is graciously pleased to proclaim that:

Whereas the ministership of Somchai Wongsawat, Prime Minister, has individually terminated in accordance with section 182, paragraph 1 (5), of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, Buddhist Era 2550 (2007), and the President of the House of Representatives informed Us that this December 15, 2551 (2008), the House of Representatives, by the votes of more than half of the existing Representatives, resolved to appoint Abhisit Vejjajiva Prime Minister;

And whereas We entertain an opinion that We have confidence in Abhisit Vejjajiva to the extent We may invest him with prime ministership;

Now Know You that We, by virtue of section 171 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, do hereby appoint Abhisit Vejjajiva Prime Minister to take charge of public administration henceforth.


Issued this 17th Day of December, Buddhist Era 2551 (2008), being the 63rd Year of Our Reign.
