of Appointment of Regent

Bhumibol Adulyadej R

His Majesty King Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej is pleased to give a Great Royal Command that it be announced as follows:

Whereas He desires to enter the priesthood as a Buddhist bhikshu in October 2499 BE, making it appropriate to appoint a regent in accordance with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, and He is an opinion that Somdet Phra Nang Chao Sirikit, His Queen, is capably capable of undertaking the royal burdens on this occasion;

Therefore, by virtue of the power under the provisions of section 17 of the Amendment of 2495 Buddhist Era to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, 2475 Buddhist Era, and with the approval of the House of People’s Representatives, He appoints Somdet Phra Nang Chao Sirikit, His Queen, as His regent during His priesthood.

Announced on the 18th day of September 2499 Buddhist Era, being the 11th year of the present reign.
