Proclamation

on Appointment of the Leader of the National Peacekeeping Council[1]

Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rex.

Whereas it appears that the Government under the premiership of General Chatchai Chunhawan has administered the state affairs in such a manner not worthy of the public trust and faith and is incapable of maintaining the public peace and order, and whereas a council of the military, police and civil officers led by General Sunthon Khongsomphong has successfully taken over the power of public administrator and the General is acting as the Leader of the National Peacekeeping Council; Be it commanded by the King’s most Excellent Majesty that General Sunthon Khongsomphong is hereby appointed as the Leader of the National Peacekeeping Council, that all the citizens shall remain calm, whilst all the government officers shall adhere to the instructions given by General Sunthon Khongsomphong, and that this Proclamation shall come into operation henceforth.

Done this 24th Day of February, Buddhist Era 2534 (1991).
