Royal Decree
Dissolving the House of People’s Representatives,
2526 BE
Bhumibol Adulyadej R
Given on the 19th day of March 2526 BE
Being the 38th year of the present reign
Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej is pleased to command that it be announced as follows:
Whereas the Prime Minister has notified Him of the following: Over the times past, constitutional amendment has been sought for as many as four times so as to change the way the Members of the House of People’s Representatives are elected, in respect of which people and Members of the House of People’s Representatives have expressed dissenting opinions in nearly equal proportions, making it possible for problems of political conflict and violence to happen if, under the current circumstances, Members of the House of People’s Representatives are permitted to be elected in such a new way, for it would lead to decadence of the economic and social system, the unity of the people in the Nation, and the democratic administration. It is appropriate to dissolve the House of People’s Representatives so as to have its Members generally elected anew;
Therefore, by virtue of the powers under the dispositions of sections 101 and 159 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, He is graciously pleased to enact the following Royal Decree:
Section1.This Royal Decree is called the Royal Decree Dissolving the House of People’s Representatives, 2526 BE.
Section2.This Royal Decree shall come into force from the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.
Section3.The House of People’s Representatives shall be dissolved.
Section4.An election of new Members of the House of People’s Representatives, being a general election, shall take place on the 18th day of April 2526 BE.
Section5.The Minister of Interior shall be in charge of the execution of this Royal Decree.
