Dissolving the House of People’s Representatives,
2526 BE

Being the 41st year of the present reign

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej is pleased to command that it be announced as follows:

Whereas the Prime Minister has notified Him of the following: Following the enactment and coming into force of the Emergency Decree Amending the ‘Land Traffic Act, 2522 BE’, 2529 BE, and the resolution passed by the House of People’s Representatives at its meeting on the 1st day of May 2529 BE to disapprove the said emergency decree, which caused the emergency decree to lapse, it is found, in analysing the reasons for the disapproval of the said emergency decree, that the House of People’s Representatives failed to take account of the grounds for the enactment of the emergency decree as a result of political discord amongst some political parties. If the present House of People’s Representatives is allowed to continue functioning, it would become an obstacle to the public administration and cast an impact upon the common interest of the Country, and would lead to decadence of the democratic administration. It is appropriate to dissolve the House of People’s Representatives so as to have its Members generally elected anew;

Therefore, by virtue of the powers under the dispositions of sections 101 and 159 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, He is graciously pleased to enact the following Royal Decree:

Section1.This Royal Decree is called the Royal Decree Dissolving the House of People’s Representatives, 2529 BE.

Section2.This Royal Decree shall come into force from the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section3.The House of People’s Representatives shall be dissolved so as to have its Members elected anew.

Section4.An election of new Members of the House of People’s Representatives, being a general election, shall take place on the 27th day of July 2529.

Section5.The Minister of Interior shall be in charge of the execution of this Royal Decree.
