Paragraph 1- We appraise in the case of one who damages with his hands the same way we appraise if he damages with his possession. How so? If one killed another’s animal or broke his vessels, we appraise how much the animals was worth and how much the carcass is worth, how much the vessel was worth while it was whole and how much it is worth now, and the tortfeasor would pay the difference to the victim with the carcass or the broken vessel, in the manner that will be discussed in Siman 403 regarding an ox that damaged.
