The Hebrew text at Mechon Mamre is based upon the autograph manuscript of Maimonides' commentary on the Mishnah, which includes Maimonides' text of the Mishnah.

The Mechon Mamre version adds special punctuation and spelling to that text. As is explicit in a correspondence I had with them a couple of years ago, their text may not be reproduced, but it obviously may be used (even without their permission) as the basis of editing Maimonides' version of the Mishnah while removing their special elements.

So Mechon Mamre may not be cited as the source for Hebrew texts. It is permissible to say that the text reflects Maimonides' version based on the typing available at Mechon Mamre.

The Mishnah texts I originally used for Wikisource Berakhot were actually versions of the "common" Mishnah text that appears in most old (and new) printed versions, not Maimonides' text. The common version was established by the author of the commentary Tosafot Yom Tov.Dovi 13:54, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

It might be better to simply have a link to the Mishnah article at Wikipedia. Something like this is good, but it doesn't belong in the main namespace of Wikisource. At present, I think it would do well as a subpage of the Wikisource:Open Mishnah Project page. Dovi 13:54, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
