ORDINANCE
NUMBER 18


27 October 1945




  1. The name of the Bureau of Public Health is hereby changed to the Bureau of public Health and Welfare
  2. The following duties and funcuions are hereby assigned to the Bureau of Public Health and Welfare in addition th those preciously assigned to the Bureau of Health :
    a. Emergercy and disaster relief
    b. Public assistance to permanently needy individuals
    c. Child welfare and other institutional care.
    d. Employee welfare and pension systems.
    e. Housing
    f. Care and telocation of repatriated and displaced Koreans, in coordination with Foreign Affairs Section of the Secretariat.
    g. Such other public welfare programs and agencies now in existence as may be required to aid in achieving the aims of the occupational forces in Korea.
  3. All duties, functions, records, property and civilian personnel of the followeing organizations are hereby transferred to the Bureau of Puvlic Health and Welfare :
    a. Social Welfare Department of the Bureau of Education
    b. War Refugee Division of the Defense Department of the Bureau of Police.
    c. Protection Dicision of the Foerign Affairs Section of the Secretariat.
    d. Relief Society of Chosen for Laborers and War Sufferers of the Bureau of Mining and Industry
  4. This order is effective at midnight 27 October 1945.
