Chap. XVI.—An Act authorizing the purchase of ordnance and ordnance stores, camp equipage and other Quartermaster’s stores and small arms.

Specific appropriation of one million five hundred thousand dollars.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the sum of one million five hundred thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated for the purchase, under the direction of the President of the United States, or ordnance and ordnance stores, camp equipage and other quartermaster’s stores for the use of the army of the United States.

Specific appropriation of four hundred thousand dollars for saltpetre and sulphur.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the sum of four hundred thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated for the purchase, under the direction of the President of the United States, of saltpetre and sulphur, for making the same into powder, and for ordnance and small arms for the use of the navy of the United States.
