Chap. XX.—An Act to re-enact and continue in operation the several acts now in force for the relief of insolvent debtors of the United States.[1]
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,Acts continued for 3 years, &c.
Act of May 27, 1840, ch. 26. That the act entitled, “An act to extend for a longer period the several acts now in force for the relief of insolvent debtors of the United States,” approved the twenty-seventh May, eighteen hundred and forty, and the several acts therein mentioned, shall be, and the same are hereby, re-enacted and continued in force for three years from and after the expiration of the said first-mentioned act, and until the cases which may be depending when such first-mentioned act shall expire shall be determined, for the purpose of finally disposing of such cases, and for no other purpose.
