Laws of Forbidden Intercourse[edit]

They comprise thirty-seven commandments: one positive commandment and thirty-six negative commandments.

This is their enumeration: (1) Not to sexually approach one's mother. (2) Not to sexually approach a wife of one's father. (3) Not to have sexual intercourse with a sister. (4) Not to have sexual intercourse with a daughter of a wife of one's father. (5) Not to have sexual intercourse a daughter of one's son. (6) Not to have sexual intercourse with a daughter. (7) Not to have sexual intercourse with a daughter of one's daughter. (8) Not to take a woman and her daughter in marriage. (9) Not to take a woman and her son's daughter in marriage. (10) Not to take a woman and her daughter's daughter in marriage. (11) Not to have sexual intercourse with a sister of one's father. (12) Not to have sexual intercourse with a sister of one's mother. (13) Not to have sexual intercourse with a wife of one's father's brother. (14) Not to have sexual intercourse with a wife of one's son. (15) Not to have sexual intercourse with a wife of one's brother. (16) Not to have sexual intercourse with a sister of one's wife. (17) Not to lie with a beast. (18) That a woman not bring a beast upon herself. (19) Not to lie with a male. (20) Not to reveal the nakedness of one's father. (21) Not to reveal the nakedness of a brother of one's father. (22) Not to have sexual intercourse with a married woman. (23) Not to have sexual intercourse with a menstruous woman. (24) Not to marry amongst the nations. (25) That an Ammonite or Moabite may not enter the congregation of the Lord. (26) Not to keep a third generation Egyptian from entering the congregation. (27) Not to keep a third generation Edomite from entering the congregation. (28) That a bastard may not enter the congregation. (29) That a eunuch may not enter the congregation. (30) Not to castrate a male, not even a domestic animal, a beast or a fowl. (31) That the High Priest may not take a widow in marriage. (32) That a High Priest may not have sexual intercourse with a widow even without marriage. (33) That the High Priest take an adolescent virgin in marriage. (34) That a priest not take a divorced woman in marriage. (35) That he not take a prostitute in marriage. (36) That he not take a profaned woman in marriage. (37) That a person not draw near to any of the forbidden relations, and even without sexual intercourse.
