{{unblock|Apologies for the vandalism, this is a public terminal. Well, over 400 ones if you must be precise.}}

Sorry, we have yet to see any productive edits from this IP address, and we have seen plenty of unproductive edits. We have seen two abusive bots run from this IP address, which means that if it is a public terminal, it permits users to install and run their own software. Blocked IP addresses can still read Wikisource, and existing editors can edit Wikisource using an account created at a different IP address. In short, the risk of permitting new accounts from this IP address outweighs the potential unrealised benefits. John Vandenberg (chat) 13:42, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock|Not all public terminals allow people to run their own software. Only about 5 of them do, as far as I can recall. When/if you block the IP, please use a neutral message so block logs don't have to be deleted etc. Something like "This shared public terminal IP is blocked due to misuse. Please <emailadmin> contact an admin to discuss this.}}

If this is an IP address is used by multiple public terminals, please set up your system to provide X-Forwarded-For headers, and provide us with the email address to report abuse to, in order that we can report which terminal is causing a problem. Until then, we have no option but to limit the access from this IP address. John Vandenberg (chat) 00:35, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I received an e-mail from wikimedia informing me that this IP requested a new password for my wikimedia account. I blocked the IP for 1 year, on 21 April 2009. ThomasV (talk) 09:10, 21 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
