Death of world-famed mining engineer

The death occurred at Jesmond, Newcastle, yeserday, of Emeritus Pressor of Mining Henry Louis (83), who was one of the world's outstanding men in mining and metallurgy.

Honours were bestowed upon him from five continents and he had carried on research in the goldfields, as well as in other phases of mining.

He had been president of the Institute of Minine Engineers anf or 25 years secretary of the North pf England Institute of Mining.
